There Goes Joe Riding By

There Goes Joe Riding By G C G D

A version of how Marion and Grampy Joe met thanks to his motorcycle and how his namesake our Joe first started to ride his cycle.

Sultry summer afternoon,
Thunder starts to roar,
Maid Marion was carrying
Provisions from the store.
A janty knight came in to sight,
He smoked a short cigar,
He said would you like a ride down the pike
Then jump in my sidecar.

Well the thunder crashed, the lightening flashed,
Clouds darkened the sky.
The rain it fell.
And he drove like hell
To try and keep them dry.
Before they knew the sun broke though
And she said with a sigh-
There goes Joe riding by
There goes Joe riding by.

Late autumn afternoon,
Another day has flown.
The teacher is all taught out,
And tired he comes home.
Out there in the distance,
He can’t believe his eyes.
What the blue jean kid did,
Was a complete surprise!

My smile flashed
And I laughed =
And I began to run.
Come Cyn with me,
You’ve got to see
What our kid has done.
Before our eyes
Time flies,
I say with a sigh-
There goes Joe riding by
Darlin Joe riding by!
