Bobby Hobbs- Hobbsie…I had not seen him perhaps since Archie died so young:We had spent so much time together right up until junior /high school…Cyn and I Went to a Jerry Jeff Walker concert and spied his brother Jimmie being confront by another concert goer and Bobby moved in the way and that was the end of that-
He looked just like the song says… I wrote it as a reminiscence a la “Desperadoes
Waiting for a Train meets Bo Jangles” and within a year somehow we were sharing
Music together and throughout the SeaBright years…terrifically talented and smart
He would by his moods be the funniest and best companion or the stormiest…he
Continues to pop up in my dreams and I will always be grateful for the music and
Memories shared…see Eleanor next…

In the corner of my eye , I caught him there last night,
He was dancing and singing and laughing.
I smiled to find him there, jet black beard and graying hair,
We had once been an inseparable pair.

I was the new kid on the street;we became fast friends-
We shared so many foes and wild adventures.
Through the marshes, down the beach, on the bay and on the islands,
We lost and found the treasures of our childhood.

We were heroes finding villains to defeat-
Me and the kid who used to live across the street.

Well we went our separate ways,in the years that were ahead,
I’d see him now and then through some changes-
Now a sailor, now a clown, now an athelete college bound-
I remember him most as a singer.

When his old man passed away, there was nothing I could say-
Just a letter-my friend’s father I will miss him.
For a while he shared a farm, now I guess he’s on the road,
Once in a while I drive past and I wave to him.

We’ve both been moving ; each finding his own feet-
Me and the kid who used to live across the street.

In the corner of my eye,I caught him there last night.
He was singing and dancing and laughing.
I smiled to find him there, but I did not call his name -
We had once been such an inseparable pair-

In a corner of my mind two children stop and meet-
Me and the kid who used to live across the street.
